AP-S pumps are a horizontal, end-suction, mechanically sealed, fluoropolymer-lined, ANSI centrifugal pump. The standard pump is frame-mounted with an integrally molded ETFE sleeve and big-bore tapered seal chamber.

The wetted materials inside the pump are made from ETFE plastic, which is highly inert to most chemicals, protecting the ductile iron exterior components that give AP-S pumps the strength and rigidity of traditional alloy pumps.
All external metal surfaces are painted with a two-part epoxy primer and urethane topcoat for the ultimate resistance to corrosion and UV resistance. This paint system’s quality far exceeds that found on comparable pumps.
ETFE-lined pumps offer chemical compatibility superior to many high-alloy pumps, providing a highly cost-effective alternative to competitors’ alloy pumps. Although the initial investment may be similar to a simple 316ss alloy pump, the cost compared to higher alloys is multiples less. The extended service life, low initial cost, reduced maintenance costs, and minimized downtime contribute to significant long-term savings.

Ductile iron pressure-retaining components provide strength and durability and have a fully bonded ETFE lining minimum 1/8 in thick for unrivaled corrosion protection and chemical compatibility. The pure virgin ETFE casing and cover lining offers excellent resistance to abrasion, erosion, and minimizes surface buildup. This makes the pump easier to clean, less prone to fouling, and perfect for abrasive slurries or particulates.
AP-S pumps can handle significantly greater solids by volume than mag-drive pumps. Standard pumps have a large tapered seal chamber to aid in air removal in the seal chamber. In addition, flow modifier vanes aid in keeping solids away from seal faces. Impellers have back pump-out vanes to reduce seal chamber pressure and thrust loads.
Parts and raw materials in the pump are locally sourced from US suppliers for reduced lead times and reliable quality. Raw materials are processed by ABM and manufactured into high-quality finished goods internally in our vertically integrated manufacturing facilities. Spare parts are readily available without long lead times.
The traditional mechanically sealed pump design is well established in most pumping industries. The AP-S pumps build on legacy designs and improve upon them to provide a more reliable, economical, and available high-performance pump.
Tapered big-bore seal chamber that can accommodate a wide range of single, double, component, and cartridge seals. Flow modifiers in the seal chamber direct solids and entrained gas away from the seal faces and reduce liquid rotation. Optionally, install the Select-A-Bore adapter into the taper bore to convert to a big-bore with or without a restrictor bushing for external clean seal flushing through the seal.
Carbon-fiber reinforced ETFE provides the ultimate in strength and chemical compatibility. It is injection molded as a single piece over the reinforcing disc and shaft coupling. The polygon shaft coupling and reinforcing disc transmit maximum torque into the impeller and increase stiffness. The impeller is securely attached to the shaft with a 316ss lock nut which is covered by a threaded cap made from the same ETFE material as the impeller. The impeller nut also uses an FEP-encapsulated FKM o-ring to isolate the shaft nut from the process.
ABM sealed and sealless pumps eliminate complicated wear ring installation and retention common among competitor products. The patent-pending wear rings are integrally molded with locking plastic tabs which hold and align the silicon carbide rings and lock them into place. This mechanism provides a means for holding the wear ring in place but also enables the stationary wear to be self-aligning, allowing for tighter clearances. If a wear ring breaks, simply remove any remaining pieces and press a new ring into the pocket. There are no retaining rings, locking pins, or other steps required.
